04 · Choosing the process

Three ways to
print a poster.

The right technology depends on run length, size and how close the viewer stands.

Sheet-fed offset up to B1 is the choice for runs from 100 up — retail and event posters on 130–250 gsm coated or uncoated stock with true Pantone matching and the lowest unit cost at volume. Wide-format latex and UV flatbed handle the big and the rigid: banners, backdrops and POS up to 3.2 m wide, printed straight onto PVC, foam-core, corrugated, fabric or dibond.

For gallery and display work, a 10-colour pigment giclée process prints onto archival cotton-rag and Hahnemühle papers through an ICC-profiled workflow with lightfast inks — the difference between a poster that reads well for a season and a print that holds colour for years.

05 · Finishing, mounting & colour

Finished for
where it lives.

Finishing is matched to the environment — a shop window, a trade booth, an outdoor fence or a gallery wall.

Display and POS pieces take matte, gloss or anti-graffiti lamination and can be mounted to foam board, dibond or acrylic, or framed with hanging hardware. Outdoor banners are hemmed and fitted with grommets or pole pockets in vinyl or mesh so wind passes through. Removable peel-and-stick wallpaper and pre-pasted murals turn a whole retail wall into artwork.

Colour is held with G7 grey-balance calibration and Pantone matching on offset, plus an ICC-profiled fine-art pipeline for giclée, so a campaign printed across offset and wide-format still reads as one brand colour. Digital runs start at a single copy with a 3–7 day turnaround; offset runs of 100+ take 8–14 days. Large posters ship rolled in tubes or flat on board depending on stock and finish.

06 · Substrate & durability

Matched to the
lifespan it needs.

How long a poster must last, and where, decides the substrate and coating as much as the artwork does.

Short-life indoor promotion prints economically on 130–200 gsm coated poster paper. Repositioned or handled pieces move up to 250 gsm with a matte or gloss laminate for scuff and fingerprint resistance. Anything facing weather, sun or public contact goes onto PVC, mesh or fabric with UV-stable latex or UV-flatbed inks, and takes an anti-graffiti or UV laminate so colour holds outdoors for seasons rather than weeks.

For gallery and archival work the fine-art pipeline uses pigment inks rated for lightfastness on cotton-rag stock. We advise on the trade-off between paper feel, durability and cost up front, so the substrate suits the display life you actually need — not an over-spec that inflates the quote.
