Inner vs outer dimensions
Order to the inner dimensions so your product actually fits — a common mistake is measuring the outside of an existing box, where the wall thickness then eats the space. The outer dimensions are what carriers use for shipping cost. This calculator adds clearance (and insert room when fragile) to your product size for the inner box, then the board thickness for the outer.
